How to make greens powder taste better?

Greens powder is an excellent way to get your daily dose of vitamins and minerals. However, many brands on the market can taste downright awful. Some powders have a chalky texture and distinct ‘green’ flavor that can be hard to choke down. This makes starting a new greens habit harder than it needs to be. Luckily, there’s a few ways you can improve the taste of your greens drink, so you can continue to get the nutrients you need!

Add juice

Add a strong tasting juice to your greens powder, but make sure it compliments your greens flavor. Putting your coconut flavored greens powder in pineapple juice will be a great way to mask the green flavor. Orange juice is another great option, and it’ll boost your vitamin C intake even more! You can even experiment with fun juice combos like carrot-apple or cucumber-celery!

Add honey or agave nectar

Another way is to add a sweetener. Depending on the brand of your greens powder, your drink may not be sweetened at all! You can use honey, agave nectar, monkfruit or stevia to sweeten up your green drink. And these sweeteners all have their own benefits as well! Make sure to start with a small amount, you don’t want it too sweet!

Change brands

Believe it or not, greens powder doesn’t have to taste awful! My favorite powder is Jocko Greens. They have a strong pineapple coconut flavor, which I think does the best job of masking the typical grassy flavor of greens powder.

Mix it

You don’t have to only drink your greens powder with water. It’s a supplement, so as long as you get it in, you’ll be good. Try mixing it with a strawberry yogurt, or even in a full smoothie with protein powder as well. You’ll be able to kill some of the bitter aftertaste and add some extra nutrients at the same time. Try out different smoothie flavors like strawberry banana, or mango until you find one that works for you!

A combination of these four tricks is sure to ease your transition into taking a greens supplement. Remember, being healthy isn’t supposed to be a chore and it isn’t supposed to be awful. It’s always possible to find great tasting AND healthy food combinations. There’s no benefit in suffering for no reason!
